In 1992, Steven started his own company: S&V Management Consultants, specialized in Supply Chain and Operations Strategy. As business entrepreneurs, he grew the company to about 100 people, working with senior management of medium and large companies in Europe and beyond. He sold the company in 2008 to Mahindra, remaining in charge as CEO. In 2011, Steven joined Ashoka Global in Washington, as strategic advisor. Ashoka is the largest platform of social entrepreneurs in the world. In this capacity he focussed on how citizen sector organizations (and social entrepreneurs in particular) and corporations can work together successfully in creating social impact at scale in a commercially viable setting. Impact investor Today, Steven is CEO and board member of EVPA (European Venture Philanthropy Association), as well as founder and chair of EVPA’s Corporate Social Investment Initiative. EVPA is a membership organisation bringing together the main Investors for Impact in Europe. He is an investor and member of the Investment Committee of SI2, a for profit social impact fund, providing growth capital to European for profit social enterprises. He is chairman of Kampani, a social impact investment fund to unlock the potential of entrepreneurial farming in the South. Steven also supports directly some (social) enterprises with the potential to generate major societal and/or environmental benefit alongside financial sustainability. Other responsibilities Co-founder and chairman of Iristick, developing, producing and commercializing smart safety glasses, both for Industry and Society. Board member of Institute of Tropical Medicine. Board member of some other companies where creating ‘shared value’ is a key lever for both growth, profitability and societal impact. Steven is visiting Professor at Hult International Business School, Dubai, lecturing on Business in Society and guest lecturer at some other business schools.
