Yohann Marcet, Managing Director of the Expertise and Impact Division of the GROUPE SOS, participated today in the Sustainable Development Meetings in Berlin. Launched in 2020 under the high patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron for the 5th anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and organised by the Open Diplomacy Institute, these meetings are designed as a « great democratic meeting » bringing together a panel of speakers to discuss and reflect on the challenges of transition.

Yohann Marcet took part in the round table « Towards 2030, a transition in times of social crisis: Towards an equitable Europe » to talk about the role of the Social Solidarity Economy (SSE) in the environmental and social transition issues.

« The UN resolution will allow the recognition of the SSE as the main vector of the social and environmental transition.

This exchange was also an opportunity to announce the coming of the French Minister in charge of SSE and Associative Life, Marlène Schiappa, to New York on 13 December to present and defend the draft UN resolution on SSE. As a reminder, this resolution affirms the role of SSE in achieving the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. Pact for Impact, the UN Task Force for Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) and many States from all continents have been working for a year to propose an ambitious text testifying to the challenges that SSE covers.

« The resolution is not an end in itself, the Pact for Impact Alliance must then convince many countries to develop frameworks for the SSE, to grant funding and to encourage its local development . »

The Sustainable Development Meetings are an opportunity to participate in this effort to bring SSE to the forefront of the international scene and contribute to the collective thinking around the achievement of the SDGs.
