On 4 April 2019, during a UE meeting held in Strasbourg, Christophe Itier, the High Commissioner for the Social and Solidarity Economy and for Social Innovation of the Government of France, announced that France was now making the Social and Solidarity Economy as a priority.

He said that a major event will be held in Paris in the course of July, bringing together more than 30 countries around the Social and Solidarity Economy and Inclusive Economy.
