Side-event Pact for Impact - United Nations General Assembly - New York, September 2019
The Global Alliance for Social and Inclusive Economy, Pact for Impact, gathered in New York on the margin of the United Nations General Assembly, under the chairmanship of Christophe Itier, French High Commissioner for Social and Solidarity Economy and Social Innovation of the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition, and in the presence of the Ministers of Spain (Yolanda Valdeolivas, Secretary of State for Employment, Ministry of Employment, Migrations and Social Security who co-organized the event), Uruguay (Dr. Jorge Basso, Minister of Public Health), and Mali (Hamadou Konaté, Minister of Solidarity and Poverty Reduction), the representative of the Prime Minister of Togo (Gervais Méatchi, Director of Planning and Development Policies), as well as Professor Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner.
Participants (governments, companies, investors, NGOs, local authorities and international organizations) were able to discuss and prioritize three areas of work: structuring the governance and resources of the Alliance, developing the roadmap to achieve concrete commitmentsin the scope of the Sustainable Development Goals, and mobilizing and scheduling events in 2019-2020.
On November 27 in Strasbourg, the event Pact for Impact Europe will be organised with the European Economic and Social Committee, the city and the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg (European capital of the SSE 2019) and Morocco will host the African meeting in April 2020.
In addition to government stakeholders, various members of the Alliance participated in the panels: Vic Van Vuuren, chairman of the United Nations Task Force on SSE (South Africa), Antoine Sire, Director of Corporate Engagement, BNP Paribas (France), Claude Alain Mabbyallas, Strategic Advisor of RIFEL’S (Ivory Coast), Carlos de Freitas, Co-Director, Global Fund for Cities Development (France), Jean-Louis Chaussade, Chairman of the Board of Directors, SUEZ (France), Mathias Vicherat, Secretary General, Danone (France), Mohamed Boudra, President of the Moroccan Association of Municipal Council Presidents (Morocco), Pauline Effa (Cameroon) & Elisa Torrenegra (Colombia), ESS Forum International.
Launched in July 2019 in Paris, the Alliance Pact for Impact brings together States and governments as well as stakeholders for social and inclusive economy. During this First Summit, more than 400 participants from 50 countries and 25 government representatives worked on various topics such as the legislative framework, financing, impact measurement, new technologies or education.
